ExpenSee is intentionally small. Most things work without instructions. This page is here for the few that benefit from a sentence or two.

Install

Get ExpenSee from the App Store. It runs on iPhone with iOS 16 or newer.

Logging an expense

Tap the input bar on the home screen and type or dictate something natural, like:

  • “Coffee at Starbucks for 4.50”
  • “Groceries 32 dollars yesterday”
  • “Train to Amsterdam €17”

ExpenSee parses the text into amount, merchant, category, and date. You can edit any field afterwards by tapping the entry.

Calendar and memories

The calendar view shows what you spent on each day. Tap a day to see the list of transactions, or scroll back across months to spot patterns. A small daily note can be attached to any day for context.

Siri and shortcuts

Add the “Track expense” shortcut from Settings → Add to Siri to log expenses by voice from anywhere on iOS, including the lock screen.

iCloud sync

ExpenSee uses your private iCloud to sync transactions across your Apple devices. Make sure iCloud Drive and the ExpenSee toggle are enabled in System Settings → [your name] → iCloud. Sync happens automatically and runs entirely between your devices and your iCloud account.

Widgets

ExpenSee ships home-screen and lock-screen widgets that show today’s and the month’s totals. Long-press your home or lock screen to add them.

Notification API (Premium)

Premium users get a personal token they can use to add expenses by HTTP request. The endpoint is documented inside the app at Settings → API.

Premium

Premium unlocks unlimited AI parsing per day, the API, and a few comfort features. It is sold as a subscription through Apple. You can manage or cancel it from Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.

Help

For questions, bug reports, or feature ideas, email h.minghe@gmail.com. The in-app feedback form (Settings → Feedback) sends a notification directly to the developer’s phone.
